What could be the first thing in the morning to kick start the day? Some coffee for sure. But only a good coffee makes us run the day right. Well, in the World of Coffee trendsetters, we have La Mocha for you. A cafeteria and hookah lounge, run by three gentlemen with a distinct vision.

In conversations with Mr. Hetal Desai, one from that brigade, we gathered some valuable piece of information on how life can take you places and bring you back to where you truly belong. Truly a man with the grit and zeal to give our city, some more. We went through his career path to know all about it, which revealed that soon after graduation, all his mind wanted was to be an entrepreneur. He wanted to communicate to a lot of people and hence he started with his first outlet, a cafe on Ghod Dod Road and then came up with a multi-cuisine restaurant, called Indian Curry. Soon enough he moved to USA for 5 years. But he couldn’t stay there more due to his love for Surat and food. He says, “I belong to my city and my friends.”

His comeback wasn’t a welcoming one though, he became a manager at a Gujarati daily to start with that Life which for sure had more in store for him. Soon enough, he left that job and opened Care at Home, a company that provided medical services at home. This was not the end of that long race. He along with his friends, Nikhil and Varun, grabbed the opportunity of opening the famous La’ Mocha. They found the location and commenced with great determination. A place for youngsters, but adults too can come and enjoy the decadent coffee by La’ Mocha. You can chill with your besties and have some Hookah flavours imported right from Dubai. Yes, you heard it right!!! They also have exotic veggies none of which you will find nearby.

Mr. Desai describes, “My motive was never to make money. I wanted to start a cafe where people come and have conversations over a cup of coffee.” He also made sure that the hookah parlour was legal and got all the paperwork done himself. So people, you need not have any second thoughts on heading there. Also, the Cafeteria and Hookah parlour are in different sections so you need not worry about that passive smoking either.

Good service and consistent taste is what sets them apart. Mr. Desai’s vision is not narrowed by time. He plans to open another garden restaurant by the name La’ Mocha Social in February. We are truly inspired by his journey and we strongly recommend their coffee and hospitality.
